Common Symptoms of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Symptoms and signs of PTSD can differ among individuals.

 Reliving Trauma This might involve:

- Vivid flashbacks (like experiencing the Trauma again)

- Intrusive thoughts or images

- Nightmares

- Intense distress due to reminders of the Trauma

- Physical symptoms such as pain, sweating, nausea, or trembling.

 Hypervigilance and Alertness This might include:

- Panic when reminded of the Trauma

- Being easily upset or angry

- Constant Alertness (hypervigilance)

- Sleep disturbances or insomnia

- Irritability or aggression

- Difficulty concentrating, even on simple tasks

- Easily startled

- Other symptoms of anxiety

Avoiding feelings or memories can be a challenging experience, often manifesting in various ways. This may include staying busy to distract oneself, avoiding reminders of Trauma, forgetting specific details of events, and experiencing emotional numbness. Additionally, individuals might find it difficult to express affection or love, engage in reckless behaviours, or resort to substances as a means of escape.

Troubling beliefs or feelings can include distrust, feeling unsafe anywhere, feeling misunderstood, self-blame, and intense emotions like anger, sadness, guilt, or shame.

Trauma during pregnancy and early childhood affects brain development, impacting well-being into adulthood and influencing how individuals function in personal relationships.
